JOHANNESBURG – The Zambian government is concerned about what it calls Finance Minister Tito Mboweni’s continued attacks against the country.
Zambia said in a statement that it is extremely disappointed with Mboweni’s behaviour and that he lacks the necessary experience for public office.
The country says Mboweni has a troubling pattern of ignoring diplomatic etiquette and disparaging a sovereign state.
Zambia further says Mboweni is trying to paint a gloomy picture of its economic outlook.
Last year August, President Cyril Ramaphosa reprimanded Mboweni for his tweets criticising the removal of Zambia’s Central Bank governor.
It adds that whatever personal issues Mboweni is dealing with must not be allowed to jeopardise the country’s good relationship with South Africa.
