Health Minister Joe Phaahla, who gazetted a repeal of major Covid-19 regulations on Wednesday, is expected to unpack the decisions and their implications during a media briefing on Thursday morning.
In terms of the repeal, South Africans are no longer required to wear masks. It also includes regulations for venues that were required to stick to 50% capacity for indoor gatherings on condition of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test.
The repeal also affects regulations requiring travellers to be vaccinated or to produce a negative PCR test.
Phaahla and Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele will brief the media on Thursday morning on the outcome of the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
