Indians can now fly to Canada if they stop over at a third country and get an RT-PCR test done. From September 7, Indians can now use places in the Middle East to transit to Canada, after popular destinations like Turkey, Dubai and Abu Dhabi relaxed norms. “In the past several months, Middle Eastern airports too were shut to Indians. So the only option before students traveling to Canada was to transit via countries like Egypt and Mexico, where they underwent an RT-PCR test. With Canada open to tourists from India as well, a holiday itinerary with a short stop in Dubai or Abu Dhabi could be planned,’’ said Anoop Kanuga from Bathija Travels. The prices of tickets to Canada have dropped too. The return fare for the Mumbai-Toronto trip, via London is between Rs 80,000 and Rs 90,000. Whereas, if the trip was via a stop in the Middle East, then prices have shown a drop after 3-4 weeks.
