Northumberland hotel is among best in the world according to Tripadvisor

A Northumberland hotel popular for its boutique bedrooms and menu of pub classics is delighted to be named as one of the best in the world.

In what comes as a huge boost just as the hospitality industry gears up to welcome back visitors, The Northumberland Arms has been picked as a 2021 Travellers’ Choice Award Winner by Tripadvisor.

That means it is listed in the top 10% of hotels worldwide, according to the travel platform.

And the hotel sees the award as a testament to its hard-working staff who do their best to ensure guests enjoy a luxury stay.

Situated in Felton, The Northumberland Arms, which will be reopening from Monday for overnight stays, has recently renovated its six boutique bedrooms with new lighting, soft furnishings and TVs.

The award from Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel platform, is based on a year’s worth of positive guest reviews and ratings – despite last year’s challenges of the pandemic – and recognises venues which have delivered “fantastic experiences to travellers around the globe”.

Stuart Young, of the Northumberland Pub Company which operates the hotel, said: “Being named in the top 10% of hotels worldwide is a fantastic achievement and we are very grateful that our guests have reviewed us so highly on the platform.

“This is an excellent testament to the hard work of our staff at the venue, who go above and beyond to ensure that our customer service is the best it can be.”

Dishes on the hotel menu include pub classics and a house rib-eye; street food, sandwiches and salads while amongst its ideas to cater for customers when it was forced to shut for lockdown was a take-out Burns Night in a Box.

But now it is making a return to business an usual and other draws for returning customers, besides its indoor attractions, is a beer garden with stunning views across the River Coquet and a 16th Century bridge.

Stuart added: “We are all looking forward to reopening for indoor dining and overnight stays from Monday and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back inside the venue.”
