Newcastle cafe delighted as Ant McPartlin grabs coffee on trip home

A Newcastle cafe was left pleasantly surprised as Ant McPartlin called in for a coffee on his return to the city.

Ant, who has been back on screen recently with presenting partner in crime Dec Donnelly for the latest series of Saturday Night Takeaway, has taken advantage of the easing of restrictions, which permits trips further afield in the UK, to travel up from the south to home turf.

Newcastle Quayside had been a popular haunt right through lockdown, with a number of venues still offering takeaway food and drink and it’s been even busier over the past few days as many of them have now re-opened for outdoor business.

And it was The Hooch, the latest venture from the team behind still closed nightspot Hoochie Coochie, that Ant decided to call into on his trip home.

After his visit, the cafe shared a picture of Ant clutching his coffee and wearing a face covering, on their Facebook page, with the caption: “Thank you Ant for your custom……every little helps”

Ant’s return to Newcastle comes after his big engagement news at the start of the year, after he popped the question to his other half Anne-Marie Corbett over the festive period.

A spokesman for the former Byker Grove star turned presenter of the likes of Britain’s Got Talent and I’m A Celebrity confirmed the engagement, saying: “Ant and Amzie are delighted to announce their engagement.

“The proposal took place on Christmas Eve at home in a very romantic setting.”

Ant and Dec delighted many TV viewers with their recent reunion with Cat Deeley as the trio got back together for the return of popular SMTV sketch CHUMs, with a special episode airing as part of Saturday Night Takeaway’s End of the Show Show.

The Geordie duo were joined by another Tyneside star as Sting made an unexpected cameo.
