Laboratory research and other evidence over the past several months have supported the use of face masks to slow the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, yet the debate on its effectiveness continues to rage.
The results of a new study, however, has provided conclusive, real-world evidence that should “end any scientific debate”, co-lead of the study Jason Abaluck, an economist at Yale University, told The Washington Post.
Researchers from Bangladesh, as well as Stanford Medicine and Yale University in the US, tested the effect of a variety of educational and behavioural interventions on mask-wearing across Bangladeshi villages over an eight-week study period.
