Zimbabwe captain Knowledge Musona has shared his reaction to his country qualifying for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Zimbabwe secured their spot at the 2021 AFCON tournament in Cameroon next year after claiming a narrow 1-0 win over Botswana on Thursday, with Group H rivals Zambia failing to beat Algeria in the night’s other fixture.
The Warriors will meet Zambia in a dead-rubber tie on Monday but celebrations have already started for Zdravko Logarušić’s side, with captain Musona leading the charge on his social media accounts.
“Super proud of my squad, we conquered & played very well even though some of our players were sadly not present due to unforeseen circumstances,” the former Kaizer Chiefs striker tweeted on Thursday.
“We did it for you guys who were not present and of course for the nation at large. Good job Warriors! Good job Warriors! AFCON 2022 here we COME! To all our supporters thank you for your support always!”
Zimbabwe are one of fourteen nations who have now secured their qualification for the much-anticipated tournament, with the remaining 10 spots to be decided across the course of the next four days.
