Hyundai i20 N Line launched: Silver lining

More from Motoring

Hyundai’s launched the i20 N Line and it will be available in two trims: N6 and N8. The N6 (iMT) is priced at Rs 9.84 lakh, while the N8 (iMT) is priced at Rs 10.87 lakh and the N8 (DCT) is priced at Rs 11.75 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). Almost for a lakh more you get a tweaked suspension, disc brakes (front and rear), sporty exhaust note, better steering feel, and of course the cosmetic bits. Is that enough to scratch your hot hatch itch?

Speaking of hot hatch, the i20 N Line is marginally close to be called a hot hatch. It still offers the same 118-bhp 1.0-litre three cylinder turbo petrol engine, paired to either a 7-speed DCT (with paddle shifters) or a 6-speed iMT. And it does 0-100 kph in 9.9 seconds. That’s quick-ish. With disc brakes on all four corners, it shouldn’t take much time to slow down from 100-0 kph. As mentioned above, Hyundai’s also gone ahead and tweaked with its ride and handling. The suspension is sportier and it’s apparently improved the on-steering feel as well.

Whether the i20 N Line is really worth the extra mile, we’ll soon let you know on that bit. But, if you had to choose one, which one would it be? If you ask us, we’d take the Fiery red and throw in another Rs 15,000 for a black roof.
