Travel restrictions during the recent adjusted Level 4 regulations have left the Western Cape hospitality sector with empty beds and fewer bookings.

According to Wegro’s head of business and acting CEO Yaw Peprah, the travel restrictions prohibiting leisure travel to and from Gauteng saw Western Cape bookings drop, with the hospitality sector deprived of income usually derived from winter school holiday travellers.

“The increased Level 4 restrictions meant that many domestic travellers from Gauteng cancelled their July school holiday plans due to them not being permitted to travel in or out of Gauteng,” said Peprah.
